Mathematical Models of Hysteresis and their Applications : Second Edition (Electromagnetism)
Editorial Reviews
Book Description
This new edition has been significantly revised and updated to reflect advances in the field since the publication of the first edition, such as the systematic experimental testing of Preisach models of hysteresis. The author has, however, retained the two most salient features of the original, the emphasis on the universal nature of mathematical models of hysteresis and their applicability to the description of hysteresis phenomena in various areas of science, technology and economics and its accessibility to a broad audience of researchers, engineers, and students.
· Provides a unique emphasis on the development of universal mathematical models of hysteresis
· Accessibility to a broad audience, using simple and complex mathematical tools, application to various areas of science.
· Presents new theoretical and experimental results
About the Author
Isaak D. Mayergoyz received his Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering from the Institute of Cybernetics of the Ukrainian Academy of Sciences, Kiev, in 1968, where he worked until 1979 as a Senior Scientist. Dr. Mayergoyz is a Fellow of IEEE, a Research Fellow of General Electric Research and Development Center, and a Distinguished Lecturer of the Magnetic Society of IEEE. He has served on the Edison Medal committee of the IEEE Award Board. He is currently an editor of the journal IEEE Transactions on Magnetics, and is a member of the Administrative Committee of the Magnetic Society of IEEE. Dr. Mayergoyz emigrated to the United States from the former Soviet Union in 1980 and has been a Professor of Electrical Engineering at the University of Maryland, College Park, since 1981. As an educator he has received the George Corcoran Memorial Award for significant contributions to Electrical Engineering Education, the Outstanding Professor Award, and an Outstanding Teacher Award from the University of Maryland--where he also received the Distinguished ScholarTeacher Award in 1994. Professor Mayergoyz has published five scientific books and more than 200 journal articles. His research interests are in the areas of power engineering, magnetics, computation electromagnetics, semiconductor devices, superconductivity and applied mathematics.
