Editorial Reviews
Review
'It is a major new work of scholarship in an important area. This book does present a unified description based on clearly stated premises and I recommend anyone with a serious research interest in turbulent combustion to read it.' K. N. C. Bray, Journal of Fluid Mechanics
'Peters is unarguably one of the premier scholars in this field, and his book is a welcomed addition to the literature ... the book is very up-to-date, with discussions of the very latest models and experiments and, in several places, new results presented ... a nice balance of mathematics, theory, modelling and experimental data. ... I highly recommend the monograph to people interested in the field of turbulent combustion; this should become a standard reference book on the subject.' James J. Riley, Journal of Turbulence
'... an essential book for all turbulent combustion experts who want an up-to-date summary of the works of N. Peters and his numerous co-workers.' Thierry Poinsot, European Journal of Mech. B Fluids

Book Description
The combustion of fossil fuels remains a key technology for the foreseeable future. It is therefore important to understand combustion mechanisms, in particular, the role of turbulence within this process. This monograph presents a thorough introduction to the field of turbulent combustion. After an overview of modeling approaches, Peters considers the three distinct cases of premixed, nonpremixed, and partially premixed combustion, respectively. By demonstrating the current theories of turbulent combustion within a cohesive presentation, this book makes a unified contribution to engineering and applied mathematics.
