Summary

In this chapter, a mathematical description of sound radiation is briefly presented accompanied by an introduction

to sound sources, monopole, and dipole. The modeling of a simple source of noise is discussed, introducing Green’s

function. As an example of simple sound radiation, the sound field generated by a source embedded in a plane

surface is described. Finally, an estimation of noise-source sound power is presented by introducing the power

conversion factor of actual machinery.
