Summary

This chapter presents the basics of statistical energy analysis (SEA) as applied to acoustic problems in structural

systems. Power flow equations for structures consisting of two or more subsystems are described. The modeling and

analysis procedures for the structural subsystems and acoustic subsystems are given. An estimation procedure of the

necessary SEA parameters is given. The practical application of the SEA procedure in structures is illustrated using a

two-story building as an example.
