5.9 APPLIANCE ANDEQUIPMENT NOISE

Back

In addition to the noise sources discussed previously there are several other

sources of noise that may be important in the acoustic analysis of residences,

construction sites, and offices. If one cannot obtain sound power level data

from the manufacturer of the appliance or item of equipment, the median

sound power level listed in Table 5-13 may be used for preliminary design

(Environmental Protection Agency, 1971a). It may be noted that the sound

power level from a specific item of equipment may deviate 10 dB from the

median value, so care should be exercised in using the data in Table 5-13.
